This interesting 20th century violin has recently been restored through a collaborative project between Ben Burnham and Thomas Dunn, of Sixth Generation Violins, in Saratoga Springs, NY. This violin provided Ben an opportunity to learn some of the basics of instrument repair under the watchful eye of Mr. Dunn. The work performed to the instrument included: removing the top, repairing two cracks and reinforcing the center seam with new cleats, neck reset, a new fingerboard, and new setup. The violin appears to be based on a Nicolo Amati form and has a robust and resonant sound. It is an excellent affordable choice for an advancing student.
